FDS Selected Exhibit at 2015 Textron Customer Conference

Last week FDS Avionics met face to face with owners and operators of Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker aircraft. The 2015 Textron Customer Conference was held in Wichita, Kansas. Only a select few vendors were invited to spend a few days with friends and customers of the Textron brands. Regional Sales Managers John Berizzi and Steve Lord had a great time demonstrating the latest generation JetJukebox to enthusiastic attendees. John and Steve also shared our Smart Cabin Management System.

The annual Customer Conference is the perfect place to share ideas and get feedback from both Textron personnel and operators. By participating in this event with Textron, we strengthen our product support and services.

How do I load content to the internal solid-state hard drive?

The following steps will demonstrate how to load content onto the JukeBox internal hard drive:

Step 1: Copy all your desired media and content to a thumb drive

Step 2: Verify that the JetJukeBox is powered on. Once this is done, insert a mouse, keyboard, and your thumb drive via the USB ports located on the JukeBox.

Step 3: Once the Moving Map has finished loading, Press the (X) key to close the Moving Map software. If the XBMX media player program is showing then hit the (S) key which will pull up a two option tab. Select EXIT to close XBMC.

Step 4: Select the windows start menu on the bottom task bar, and then select “COMPUTER.” This will open up windows explorer. On this screen, locate your inserted thumb drive that has all your content that you want to load to the JukeBox internal hard drive.

Step 5: Once inside the thumb drive, right click and copy the files you want to add to your JetJukeBox.

Step 6: Once the files are copied, select the Internal Media (D:) drive. Identify the correct subfile (Video, Music, or Pictures) and paste your content inside the correct subfolder

Flight Display Systems upgrades JetJukebox product via InFlight

FDS Avionics has upgraded its JetJukebox wireless media streaming solution for business aircraft..

JetJukebox connects to an aircraft’s Wi-Fi router and streams content to as many as eight tablets, smart phones, or computers. Now, in a new development, the system can also stream video to a bulkhead monitor, as well as interfacing with the ‘Smart Cabin’ cabin management system to control functions including lights, video and audio.

Other improvements to JetJukebox being showcased at NBAA are a fivefold increase in its moving map resolution – the standard resolution is 500 square metres per pixel, but now JetJukebox offers 90 metres per pixel – and increased storage from 240GB to one terabyte (the equivalent of 400 films).

FDS Avionics’ JetJukebox media streaming device is designed for owner/operators who want cabin-wide entertainment and file-sharing capabilities, but don’t need the off-aircraft connectivity capabilities.

“The whole idea of a system like this is to declutter the aircraft cabin and remove all the excess weight and installation considerations of mounted displays and their hardware,”
sated Eric Delash, regional sales manager for FDS Avionics. “Today, everybody carries their own personal display in the form of an iPad, smartphone or laptop computer. JetJukebox is a wireless media streaming device that allows up to eight passengers to stream movies, music, PowerPoint presentations and moving maps on these personal displays.

“When connected to the aircraft’s GPS or FMS, the JetJukebox provides a moving map – and now we are introducing our new high-resolution map display.”

Dave Dodson, the company’s marketing director, explained that another advantage of the system is, when connected to a Wi-Fi router, passengers can share data wirelessly.

“The unit is basically a high-end file server with robust, high-capacity SSDs,” Dodson said. “JetJukebox is device agnostic, so it works perfectly with any personal electronic device a passenger may bring on the aircraft. Content can either be pre-loaded on the system via a portable USB drive or transferred from a PC to the internal storage.

“The JetJukebox has a built-in 1 terabyte SSD. With the ability to use external drives, the amount of available media is practically unlimited.”

The base price for the JetJukebox is $29,600 – well within the ready of anyone flying this category of aircraft.
